Gears of War: E-Day

Gears of War: E-Day multiplayer and Versus modes

Quick answer

Versus is 4v4 with equal starting loadouts and no Weapon Mods. The four launch modes are Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Demolition and Crucible. Start with training or Social matchmaking; Ranked was announced for October 13.

Learn the four objectives

Mode What your team needs to do
Team Deathmatch Deplete the opposing team’s lives
Conquest Capture and defend zones until your team accumulates enough time
Demolition Take the neutral bomb, plant at an enemy site and defend it; three detonations win
Crucible Carry the Power Core and build progress within a moving, shrinking zone

Start with practice, then Social

Finish Boot Camp and use Combat Training to try movement and weapons. Player vs Bot is another way to practice maps before moving to Social matchmaking.

Learn when to contest map Power Weapons and work toward the mode’s objective with your team. A kill alone is not the objective in every playlist.

No Horde class build in Versus

Versus uses equal starting loadouts and disables Weapon Mods. The four Horde classes and their mod progression do not form a PvP class build system.

When does Ranked begin?

The September 30 official launch update announced October 13 for Ranked. This page’s October 9 coverage does not treat an older July introduction as proof that Ranked is already open. Check the official announcement and actual in-game availability when that date arrives.
